There is some of course, however I don't know how much it is.    Of course being able to meassure how much time is spent line by line (with Porfiler) and being able to see where the code is going (with Trace) is likely worth the price.  With this information you will know where to focus your tuning effort. And wouldn't be playing trial and error by guessing which line is the problem.  Like Cary says, why guess when you can know!
