Release Notes for Profiler 5.1.14.0

Please note that 5.1.14.0 introduces some changes to the Profiler architecture.

===================================================================================

* Profiler 5.1.14 uses a new license registration process. When you plan to install Profiler 5.1.14, please contact Hotsos to make sure your license information is up to date.

* If you have Hotsos Laredo installed, you MUST install Profiler 5.1.14.0 into the directory where Laredo is installed. To do this you must uninstall Profiler 5.1.13 before installing the new release. Make a note of the directory where you have installed Laredo and select that directory for the installation of 5.1.14.0.

* If you are upgrading from a previous version of Profiler and you do NOT have Laredo installed, you will not be prompted for an install location. Profiler 5.1.14.0 will automatically install into the same directory as the previous version.

* Java Runtime Executable 1.5 or higher is a prerequisite for Profiler 5.1.14. Where prior versions of the "BIG" installer had the JRE bundled within it, and the "SMALL" installer would download the JRE from the Sun Microsystems
Java site, all current and future versions will require the JRE to be installed prior to installing the Hotsos Profiler.

* If you are prompted for the location of Java Runtime Executable, select the Java home directory. The home directory is the parent of  bin/java.exe. For example if the JRE is installed in C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_11\bin\java.exe, the Java home directory is C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_11.

* If you install Profiler from the command line, you can specify the JRE home directory by public property (JAVAHOME=path_to_jre and JAVA_FOUND=1).

* During installation, your Hotsos license (P5.lic) and the config directories are backed up to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Hotsos\@YYYYMMDDMMHHSS. If you have customized your configuration, you will have to  manually merge any changes from the previous config files into the new config files.

* If an error occurs during installation, the P5 Uninstall shortcut may not be restored to your start menu. You can create a new shortcut or copy the file manually from the backup location [InstallPath]\P5uninstall.exe.
