You mentioned keeping the optimizer environment as stable as possible. Does that mean I should stop running my weekly gather_dictionary_stats and gather_fixed_object_stats?
If things aren't changing significantly during the week then it is likely not necessary to do the collections for gather_dictionary_stats and gather_fixed_object_stats that frequently. Just remember that collecting statistics should be done when needed after there have been significant changes that the optimizer needs to be aware of. It may be that time period is a month or more in your environment...but only you would know that for sure.
