If you have data which is only changing by about 1% per day, should you have to re-do stats on a daily basis?
With that rate of change, it is likely that daily statistics updates would not be necessary. Typically a 1% change wouldn't warrant new statistics. However, you must gauge by your performance whether daily updates are warranted. If plans (and thus performance) improve after collecting stats, then daily collections might be needed. It really depends on the performance you are seeing before/after a collection. If performance is holding steady without collecting stats, then you really don't "have to" do a collection until performance begins to degrade.
