Projection & RSO - Webinar Question on 12/18/07

Why is the Projection information relevant? Why should I care what columns Oracle is picking up during each row source operation?

Projection is useful when you are trying to understand why Oracle is doing a certain row source operation a certain way when you expect it shouldn't be. Examining the columns in the projections will help understand why Oracle chose a strategy because of the way it optimized which may not seem intuitive to you. This is very useful when you are writing queries using analytic functions.
