Trace File and Table Design - Webinar on 2/26/08

How can a trace file be used to determine bad table design as opposed to  bad SQL?

I don't think you can see it just because of an event or statistic in the trace file. What I see happening is that the trace file leads me to a bad SQL statement, as I investigate the statement I am able to see that there might be a design issue. Only with understand of the application and the data model used to support the application can you be sure that you have a design issue.  Looking at code can give you hints, but even a good design can be used poorly and make it look like there is a design issue.
